A Black-owned family business born in the Bahamas, Perfec-Tone is on a mission to make the world's skin flawless. Lila Pinder, a nurse and an inspiration, wanted to provide restorative skincare products safe for melanin-rich skin tones. She built her business in 1980. Then, in 2010, her son Arron became the CEO and expanded the company so more of the world could experience her already popular products. When Perfec-Tone approached our team years later, they were struggling to keep up with the times. Their current look was too mature for its (growing) younger fan base. Since we love the brand story—and A/B testing new audiences—we were so on board!

The results

We strengthened the brand voice and identity by updating the logo, fonts, and tagline, as well as delivering an updated brand book. Based on the new identity, we also developed product booklets, sales guides, training materials for staff and branded collateral. Our work together also included social media management, strategic advertising, a brand new e-commerce website launch, product packaging design, blog post creation and publication, email marketing and market research. (Phew!) It was a lot, but the Perfec-Tone team was as much a dream to work with as their products are to use.

The result is a redesigned product and service line that matches the customer base, presented in an updated B&M store and an e-commerce site equipped to handle the increase in international sales. Highlights of our time together include:

  • Reached over 3.4 million engagements on Facebook
  • Increased Facebook likes from 761 to 25,000
  • Increased Instagram followers by 318%
  • Increased website traffic by 312%
  • Rebranded to speak to and attract target customers 
  • Launched an international e-commerce site
