Marketing is generally associated with advertising. If you recall geometry, then you might remember that all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares. Think of marketing as a rectangle and advertising as the square. All advertising is marketing, but not all marketing is advertising. To help illustrate this point, we (in the industry) have developed the marketing umbrella. The marketing umbrella has several components that funnel into sales. For example, PR, events, advertising, social media, and digital strategy are all elements that fall under the marketing umbrella. Some of these components have their own firm while others specialize in all of the above. Our firm specializes in all of these parts of the marketing umbrella. Most of what we do however, is digital marketing. We have developed a separate umbrella to differentiate what falls under the digital category. These elements are essential for business and brand development, especially since an online presence is essentially required for success.
