Hi guys, Laurel Mintz here with Elevate My Brand. We have decided to start a new fun series called Marketing MythBusters. There are so many things that people say about marketing that are just totally untrue and so we’re going to debunk those myths. So today we’re going to talk about “If you build it, they will come”. I am absolutely certain that you have heard this in the marketing world or in your lives forever. And this might have been true back in the early web days but now we know that that is absolutely not true. You need to spend money on marketing, you need to create great content. You can’t just build a platform or a social channel and expect people to flock. I think that people get nervous about spending money on their marketing and that’s why they hold on to this myth so tightly. But the truth is, there are so many great platforms out there that are trying to conquest eyeballs, especially if you are in ecommerce land, that you really need to make sure that you’re developing a holistic approach to your marketing that includes content, social, advertising, and partnerships. So don’t let the myth fool you. If you build it, they won’t come. So make sure that you’re building out your marketing strategy accordingly in an omnichannel way, watching all your data and analytics, and making really smart decisions on a go forward plan from there. So, myth busted! Stay tuned for more from Elevate My Brand.
